Star Wars

Why I said I’d never do it: I’ve just never been interested in the whole Star Wars hype. I’m also not a huge fan of science fiction and I’m not a follow the crowd kind of person. Just about everyone I know loves Star Wars. I think the oppositional side of me, coupled with my general disinterest, was attempting to resist the whole crowd think fandom that Star Wars commands. As a result, Star Wars, as a movie and culture, has just never been on my radar and I’ve never felt like I was missing anything.
Why I did it: There’s a new movie coming out and everyone in my shared office space are losing their damn minds over it. In addition, I have friends who are planning for midnight showings, group trips to the theater and are getting their costumes ready. This is now the third show my colleagues and/or friends have all been able to bond over… the others being Dexter and Game of Thrones, that I have had no interest in or in-depth knowledge of. Watching Star Wars was my way of making an effort to bond and build camaraderie with my colleagues and to make even stronger my relationships with Star Wars obsessed friends. I also really wanted to know what all the hype was about and was hoping I was wrong about what I thought the series was.
What I did: I, along with a close friend with the same sentiment towards Star Wars, binged the Star Wars series.
The Results: Varied from movie to movie. You’ll have to watch each clip to see what we thought about each specific film. You’ll also find out which movies were our favorites and least favorites, as well as whether we finished the series or not. Cheers and happy New Years!
