Biography

Sex Machine, Ladies man, Brick Hammer: None of these have ever been used to describe me. I’m a super serious joke of a man-child. A humble narcissist; Obsessed with Altruism and Free Will. It is my aim to both be happy and to spread joy. But I will never believe joy is easy or that happiness is an accident. So I’m on a forever journey to find true happiness. I may not always love myself, and you may not always like me, but I hope to make you think.

Q & A::

What is your family like?

– My mother had me when she was 16 and my father left when I was two. My mother remarried when I was 11 and now I have four siblings, all of whom I helped raise. I also have a half-sister and half-brother whom I’ve never met.

Why are you Team Meraki?

– I believe conflict is at the center of all relationships. Being a part of Meraki means I get to flex my argumentative side and express it in a safe space. It also means I get to call Doc on her BS and know we are still going to be friends at the end of it.

Why was going back for your degree so important?

– I had to drop out of school back in 2006 because I was struggling with Depression and was barely functioning. At the time, I only needed 8 units to graduate, so I assumed I would go back at some point. I didn’t go back until 2018, and it required me to quit my job and move away on my own for 6 months. I finished my degree in March of 2019. My goal was always to get my Bachelor’s Degree, it was a point of pride for me and to not finish made me feel like a failure for 10 years. It was also important for me to go back to prove that I could overcome my depression and succeed and in spite of it.

Something you wish someone would have told you when you were younger?

– I wish someone would have told me that the world would constantly remind me that I don’t know as much as I think I do. To stay humble, and be open minded to new ideas. Also to never stop trying to be better. And I wish someone had told me there is nothing more important than finding happiness within yourself and not from some external source.

Something funny?

– I’m not naturally or classically funny. Most of the time, if I think something is funny, I share. But most of the laughs I got as a child were from being an irrepressible asshat or being hopelessly odd. Several years of being called fat had begun to turn my jelly to jam. So I took their sticks and stones, turned my fat to rubber, and began to melt those assholes into glue. One day at school, a little shit felt the need to say “Hey Fat Ass” so I stole a line from In Living Color and said “Yeah, well Your mama is so bald, when she wears a turtleneck, she looks like a busted condom!”
